White Adipose Tissue (WAT) organoids

Development of white adipose tissue (WAT) organoids for ex vivo studies in adipose dynamics to improve reconstructive surgery for cancer patients

The goal of our adipose spheroid project is to create cell spheroids comprised of mature adipocytes and stromal cells using our extensive cryobank of primary human cells. To create a robust protocol for synthesizing adipospheres, we need to optimize multiple, often interacting, parameters to achieve unilocular adipocyte morphology and stromal cell organization. The UPDDI has partnered with Dr. Lauren Kokai in the Department of Plastic Surgery to develop to automate the adiposphereoid characterization process and increase throughput of research variable testing.
